Vacation
The week of July 4Th we went to the mountains. We had a lot of fun. We went home Friday morning. We drove go carts, played golf, and we went to the Titanic museum. We went to Cade's cove and saw 4 does and a bear. Then we went to Cherokee. The condo we stayed in was nice, but it was kinda small. We had a ball!

Reading the Bible Through in a Year
Beginning in January, I've been reading the Bible all the way through. Actually, Sis and I both are! We have been using an app on our iPods that allows us to read the Scripture and also listen to it as we read along. We've been using this app: (and it's FREE!)
KJV Bible App FREE
We chose this application because it has a great yearlong plan that helps you know which portions to read each day. By the end of December, we will have read through the entire Old Testament once, and the New Testament TWICE! It also has maps and other cool stuff in the app. There are some annoying ads within the app, but it's a small price to pay for a free audio and visual Bible.
Mom has allowed us to count this as part of our independent reading in our homeschool lessons. I've learned so much already, and I've really enjoyed this experience.

Dixie's Kittens
Last night, Mom got KK and me out of bed to watch Dixie have her kittens. She already had 2 when we got out there, and we watched her have 2 more. She must have had 1 more after we came inside because I now count 5. Here's a video of them. Turn up the volume and you can hear what they sounded like right after they were born.
Here's a picture. They are all calico except for one tortoiseshell calico (like Dixie, with no white) and one tabby. Aren't they sweet?

In Memory of a Legend
Yesterday one of my heroes passed away. Fess Parker lived a very interesting. He was a Marine during WW II, after being rejected by the Air Force for being too tall. (He wad 6 ft 6 in. tall!). After his military service he was attacked and stabbed and nearly killed after a wreck with a drunk driver. He then went on to get a college degree, although he couldn't play sports any longer due to his injury and rehab.
After college, he was discovered by Walt Disney, and his acting career began. My favorite Fess Parker roles are Davy Crockett, Daniel Boone, and James Andrews in The Great Locomotive Chase (even if he did play a Yankee!).
Fess Parker was a good example of honorable manhood, not only in the roles he played, but also in his marriage of over 50 years to his wife, Marcella.
There aren't many men like him in the movies today, and he will be greatly missed.

Rosebud's Ponytail
Rosebud has such curly hair we can barely put it in a ponytail. But this time we got it. Here is a picture of her ponytail and playing with Seth's smurfs.
